Individualized support for students who learn at a different pace or in a different way.

Support for Every Kind of Learner

The Learning Center (TLC) is a private, nonprofit organization in Stephens City, Va. It was founded alongside Eukarya Christian Academy to serve children facing academic and behavioral challenges, and its mission is to improve lives and expand possibilities by offering those services within one organization.

TLC’s professional staff bring real personal concern to therapy, education and support for each student. We believe the uniqueness of every child should be valued, to build their confidence and develop their capacity to lead.

We offer tutoring and educational coaching during the school day, after school and over the summer break, for ECA students and students from other schools.

Research-Based, Personalized Intervention

TLC gives students with learning disabilities research-based support that is personalized to each student’s learning profile. Our services are built to equip students facing:

Proven Programs

Our qualified staff use proven programs, including these three.

Equipping Minds: A cognitive development curriculum that strengthens the ability to learn. It is “designed to improve a learner’s working memory, visual and auditory processing, attention, processing speed, logic, comprehension, language, social skills, attention, executive functioning, behavior, and self-regulation.”
Structured Literacy: A hands-on, explicit and systematic approach for students who have unusual difficulty learning to read and spell, including students with dyslexia. Sessions are prescribed for each student, are intensive and focus on phonemic awareness and the patterns and conventions of print.
Brain Integration Therapy: “Brain Integration Therapy is a merging of Applied Kinesiology and learning theory.” It helps repattern the brain, which “helps the left and right sides of the brain ‘switch on’ and work together more fully.”

Fees for Services Through The Learning Center

2026 school year, effective February 17, 2026. All sessions are 50 minutes unless noted.

Behavioral and Specific Educational Therapy

Reading remediation and therapy for dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

Occupational Therapy and Equipping Minds

Subject Tutoring

Tutoring pairs a student with a tutor for a specific subject.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is provided by Lila Griffith, SLP, of Without Limits. The fee is $53 for a 30-minute session, billed through Without Limits. You can request a superbill to seek possible reimbursement through your health insurance.

My son, Bailey, started the reading tutor program at Eukarya Academy under a gifted teacher, Rae Cromeens. He was a struggling non-reader with learning difficulties. Rae provided a program for my son to succeed in spelling and reading. Bailey was progressing rapidly, and after 3 months was learning to decode words. These learning techniques inspired him to become interested and involved in classwork at school. He now enjoys reading and loves to tell others how the learning process works with his tutor. Bailey is now working on learning concepts above his grade level. I learned the techniques by watching Rae teaching my son. I would reinforce them at home. I am so grateful for this incredibly gifted teacher.
